I suppose most people that have looked at business opportunities have looked at or tried some MLM program at one time or another. We have seen the circles or the numbers, you know - if you get three and they get three etc. When it comes to putting the plan into action it seems that all those numbers and the promised income were really just a myth.

Well, let's take a look at some real numbers and at the real myth. If you take the most
Basic MLM plan that is 5 levels deep and you get just $1 per month as your share from each person below you on each of your 5 levels, the numbers can be pretty enticing. For example, let's look at the numbers with this minimal scenario of $1 from each level.

Do you know, that if you recruited just 1 person a month, who used the product or service (giving you your $1 from them) and they then recruited just 1 per month who did the same, in 3 years you would be making $119,000 every MONTH. No folks, that's not myth. This example could happen in the great MLM Global Domains International or any number of other MLM opportunities. But I hear screams coming back… "it sure didn't / doesn't work that way for me".

There is a myth out there alright. The real myth is in the minds of many ( if not most ) people who are enticed by those very real (but seemingly ever evasive) big numbers. The myth is in the way we usually extrapolate that figure in our heads. Our logic tends to go something like this: $119,000 per month in 36 months, so I'm starting from zero and that means if my income goes up by $3305 every month, at the end of 36 months my income
will be at about $119,000. We usually are more realistic than that but tend to think that it migh take 3-4 months to get to the $3305 per month and then the growth should occur along that sort of a path. Well, that's logical IF the income growth were a linear progression but that IS NOT how it works.

This mythical linear progression thinking would have you making $19,830 in your 6th month and almost $40,000 in your 12th month. You start in this company and you're a hard working MLM wannabee. You work long hours learning and "following their system" and really put your heart into it. After 3 months of hard work you find that you have hardly made enough to pay the phone bill let alone gas, advertising, etc. etc. You start to think that maybe you were deceived or that there is something wrong with you. You hang in there for a few more months but when you hit 6 months and you're only making $197 (and that is GROSS) you say "forget it" and want to QUIT. NO, NO, NO, DO NOT QUIT!!!!

That's the shame and the tragedy that comes from the myth we've fed ourselves with the assumptions we made about the linear progression. Let's look at the EXACT figures for
the hypothetical example and you'll see this is more like a geometric progression (for you math guys). Here is the way it breaks down in each 6 month period from 1 to 36.Month 1-6: 1=$1; 2=$3; 3=$7; 4=$15; 5=$31; 6=$61.

Do you see that? This guy was ahead of schedule (to make $119,000 per month in just
three years) and he was about to QUIT - when he was ahead of schedule!! Look at the rest of it.Month 7-12: 7=$113; 8=$197; 9=$325; 10=$511; 11=$771; 12=$1123

Look at that and let it sink in! It takes time to duplicate yourself and for each new person to get up to speed. Every situation will be different but this shows you the PRINCIPLE. Drill that principle deep into your head and you will keep on and stay the course - that is where the money is made in Multi-level or Network Marketing.

This MLM industry is the greatest way there is for large numbers of people to earn their way to a million dollar a year income. Enjoy the journey. Treat your customers and especially your "downline" with respect and educate them to the realities of the industry. Do not let them quit without educating them on what the true income path really looks like. In fact, if you're wise, you won't let them even start training under you unless they understand the way the growth curve works.

This is not a get rich really quick business as it is so often portrayed to be (in order to entice the gullible to "get in"). But, if you are with a good company, have good products or services and stay the course - working diligently, it will make your VERY rich a lot faster than a physician or a lawyer who is making nothing from his profession until after 6-8 years of schooling.

Think about it boys and girls. Put a big smile on your face when you're "paying your dues" because you are planting prolific seeds that WILL yield you an abundant harvest - if you stick around for it. To get indexed fast using Google Sitemaps you’ll first need to get a plugin called “Google Sitemap Generator“. It’s free and pretty easy to install. After installing it, remember to go to “Options” and then “Sitemap”. Fill out any settings and hit “Rebuild Sitemap”. You might have to upload a blank sitemap.xml or sitemap.xml.gz file, and CHMOD it so the script can save the file.
If you don’t have a Google Sitemaps account, you can get one free. Log in and once inside enter the URL to your website. Next click the Sitemaps tab and click add a sitemap and then enter the URL to your “General sitemap” (usually yoursite.com/sitemap.xml).
Once done, Google will periodically download your sitemap file, and index any new or changed pages. The nice thing about the plugin is it will update the sitemap as your site changes.
When you verify your site you can also get some good statistics from Google about the searches people are making for your site. They also let you change how fast they crawl your site and many more goodies. DirectMatches is the first in the online business and social networking industry to use a "dating-type" matchmaking service that helps people locate everything from business contacts to network marketing professionals. This is a powerful resource for building your business.

Here's how you can get the most out of your DirectMatches membership.

You will want to get at least a "Managing IR" membership ($19.95) to be able to get the most out of this tool but you can start getting good use of it with the free membership if you are cash poor.

Once you've signed up you will want to set up your user profile. There are 3 areas that you will be placing your profile information. Keep in mind that this information is used to match you against other members profiles in the system.

Rick says: Here is what I put in my profile to match the people I'm most looking for in the system:
Under "Occupation" I checked "MLM". You may want to check "Retired" and "Self-Employed" as well.
Under "Business Topics" I checked "Ad Strategies", "Internet Marketing" and "Home Based Business".
Under "Business Interests" I checked "Marketing, Advertising" and "Networking".

Once you've done that, put your other information in and click on "submit". You will then be taken to your profile page where you will want to click on "My Business Matches". You will find that you should have matched hundreds if not thousands of other members. This is where you will get started in building your DirectMatches contact base.

Once you are on the "My Business Matches" page you will want to start adding contacts. Assuming all of these folks match what you are looking for, go ahead and start clicking on the "add me to contacts" button for each one. You want to go through at least the first 10 pages, which will be 100 contacts. Once you've done that you can go back to those contact profiles and send them an email introducing yourself. Keep it informal and short.

Make sure you have your sig file on the bottom of your email (you can set it up in your email options - see example at end of article).

You will now have 100 contacts with whom you will have made initial contact. Hopefully, they should all add you as a contact on their page. They will automatically show up in your contact section on your page giving you the opportunity to have regular communications with them.

You will want to continue this process (adding business matches) on a daily basis. By the end of the week you should have 700 new contacts to network with and more than likely a few sign ups into PIF4P.

The next thing you can do as part of your DM strategy is to send daily group emails out to your contact list. You are limited to sending it to 60 people a day so plan accordingly. That doesn't mean you can't send more than that, just that you can only send 60 group messages at a time.

Send a daily tip out, something that will help them in building their MLM business. You can tie it to the Success Guide or just something that you are doing to drive traffic. People will soon start to expect this from you and you will become an information resource for them. Send a link to your blog as well as a helpful resource.

Another powerful feature you have within DM is the network search feature that you will find in your mail page. You will use it to locate members that are in particular network marketing companies, like Shaklee or Xango. You will get back pages of contacts that belong to that MLM group.

Once you've done that you click on "add me to contacts", then come back to their profile and click on the email link. Here is an example of what to email them:

Try and send out at least 15-20 of these everyday. It is a more aggressive approach but it works really well.

The other activity you can do is to post comments on your contacts page. Simply go to their page and click on add a comment. You can write a quick note and add the PIF4P banner in that comment field as well.

By working your DirectMatches resource on a daily basis you will bring a good deal of qualified traffic to your PIF4P website and start getting signups from that traffic.

Some years ago, I worked for the highly renowned leadership training firm – The Covey Leadership Center. We provided leadership and effectiveness training for most of the Fortune 500 Companies. I was fortunate enough to participate in many of these expensive training sessions.

I think one of the most valuable lessons I learned was the lesson of FOCUS. We all know how you can take a magnifying glass out in the hot sun and focus the sun’s rays into a tiny point and cause heat sufficient to start a fire. This same principle is applied with solar ovens that are used to melt some of the toughest metals. Why does it work? Because of focus.

If you take even a very strong magnifying glass and fail to focus the sun’s rays, or if you focus them but keep the “hot spot” moving, there will be no combustion.

I was thinking how very applicable this principle is to building a successful online business (or any business for that matter). Online particularly though, it seems that there are a thousand different voices screaming “Come here”, “Try this” and “Follow me – I’ll lead you to the Promised Land because I’ve been there.” Although there certainly are scam artists out there and people who deliver far less than they promise, our very worst enemy can be a LACK OF FOCUS. I am convinced there are many roads to internet riches but we will never arrive at that destination if we are trying to go in different directions at the same time.

Another great principle of success is the principle of synergy. Synergy is the interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects. It is possible to utilize more than one online process at the same time in such a way that it does not detract from our focus but actually enhances and speeds up the desired successful destination.

Find someone who has become successful doing what you want to be doing. If they have used the principles of FOCUS and Synergy to gain their success, then ask yourself: Can I do the same thing? If you can find someone in this category that is willing to mentor you in learning the processes which they themselves used to become successful and continue to use now that they are successful, then pay close attention.

Once you have done your "due dilligence" and know that they are "for real", forget all the other “voices” out there, FOCUS on what they are saying and doing and follow in their footsteps. With diligence and patience you should start to see the new growth start to blossom under your stewardship.

If you are careful and diligent in following their guidance and it “doesn’t work”, find out why and move on - but, make absolutely sure you are not just moving the magnifying glass just as your “hot spot” is about to ignite.
